How To Make A Mirror Box For Moving

DIY How to pack pictures, how to pack mirrors and how to pack glass tops for moving

Having your mover pack your fragile mirrors, pictures or glass tops can be a very good idea...particularly when one understands that the mover accepts liability when the mover packs these manufactures. However, movers charge $25.00 to $40.00 (or more than) to pack each mirror, moving-picture show or glass meridian and when you accept twenty to thirty such articles the bill for a mover's packing service can really add up. Ouch! And so here is a tip from a professional mover on how to do-it-yourself pack your mirrors, pictures or glass tops with a very inexpensive but very safety and very constructive packing DIY packing method.

Steps for DIY packing method...

  1. Start with a adept box whose complanate size (folded flat) is judge 30% larger than the footprint of the article (mirror, pictures or glass top) which you need to pack.
  2. Habitation Depot is a skillful source for purchasing moving boxes and I particularly recommend the Home Depot "Heavy Duty" line of boxes. While the Home Depot regular test boxes will work fine, the heavy duty boxes provide more protection because they have a college "test" which make them stronger and more rigid.
  3. Wrap the article you are moving in one layer of chimera wrap and then tape information technology to preclude the chimera wrap from falling off.
  4. Keep the box y'all are using flattened out and tape upwardly only one of the open ends closed using PVC type packing tape; record it well then the box won't open up upwardly.
  5. Flip the box over and you will see that you have created a paper-thin "sleeve" which is similar to a 33LP record sleeve.
  6. Slide your chimera-wrapped article inside this sleeve.
  7. Now tape up the open up end of the sleeve and, once over again, record it well so it won't open upwardly.
  8. Using a large permanent marker, write "Drinking glass" and "Do Not Lay Flat" in B I Thousand  B O L D  L E T T E R S on both sides of the sleeve containing the article you have packed.

But what if your mirror, film or glass elevation is likewise long or too wide for the box y'all have available? No worries! Simply use the "Double Stacked Carton" pull a fast one on which allows you to create actress tall (or extra wide) boxes which can accommodate tall or wide articles. To employ this technique only get together two boxes of the same exact size and so follow the higher up "Steps for DIY packing method" procedure up to step #vi. Now, instead of sealing up the box, take the second box you assembled and "telescope" it over the first box containing the article. Slide the second box over the first box until it information technology the perfect size for your article. And don't forget to tape it well so the boxes won't come autonomously.

And that's all there is to information technology; using this method can salve you hundreds of dollars and -- if you do a good job -- your article should exist equally safe and equally secure as if a professional mover packed information technology.

This said, it must be noted that movers will non be responsible for damage to the contents of owner packed boxes which movers call "PBO" which stands for "Packed By Owner". Therefore, if you lot have a few pieces which are very expensive, very fragile or to which you are emotionally attached so you may want to consider having your mover pack these item pieces.
